In today’s world, digitalization is an important factor in both private and professional life. Since technical accessibility is not always considered, problems can arise. Blind and visually impaired people need innovative and efficient assistive devices to be able to use new media. It is important to understand that the type and severity of visual impairment vary from person to person. To ensure the best possible technical support, it is essential to tailor the assistive devices to each individual user.

Papenmeier is a medium-sized company with four very different product divisions — Lumiglas, RehaTechnik, Electronics, and Consulting. The diversity of these departments is a great advantage for us. The RehaTechnik product division originated from a research project at the University of Dortmund.

For more than 45 years, we have been manufacturers of electronic assistive devices for blind and visually impaired people. From the beginning, our focus has been on providing workplaces for the blind and visually impaired. Thanks to many years of experience, our assistive technology and suitable workplace solutions contribute to the successful inclusion of blind and visually impaired individuals.

Our assistive technology for the blind includes hardware products such as BRAILLEX® Braille displays and assistive software like the JAWS® screen reader. For users with severe visual impairments, we offer document reading cameras as well as software solutions for screen magnification, such as ZoomText®, Fusion®, or SuperNova. These assistive devices are combined with up-to-date hardware and software components, such as notebooks or workplace-essential software. If we are not the manufacturer of the required assistive devices, we rely on products from well-known providers.

For the sustainable configuration of assistive technology, not only the individual needs of the user but also the technical environment in which the devices will be used must be considered. For this reason, we offer additional services, including comprehensive consulting, personal training, and individual software customization.

We look forward to working with you and meeting your assistive technology requirements. Our consultants are happy to provide you with extensive information and answer your questions. Together with you, we create new perspectives — in everyday life, school, and work!
